Ayurveda recognizes that each person has a unique mind-body constitution. The Ayurvedic consultation process identifies the various components of an individual’s constitution, determines imbalances, and provides education, guidance, and options for helping the client regain balance and improve their health and wellness.
An important goal of Ayurveda is to identify a person’s unique prakriti – ideal state of balance, determine patterns of imbalance (vikriti), and offer interventions using a suitable diet, herbs, aromatherapy, pancha-karma, massage treatments, music, yoga and meditation to reestablish inner balance and harmony.
During your Ayurvedic consultation, we will address your health concerns from a physical, emotional and spiritual perspective. Integrating the theoretical frameworks of Ayurveda and modern science, your session will focus as much on you as a unique individual who is facing a health challenge as on the health challenge itself.
During a typical evaluation, your Ayurvedic Consultant takes a complete medical and lifestyle history and performs a physical evaluation that looks at the body both as a physical system as well as a field of intelligence — reflecting the needs and choices of a person’s life. Based upon this assessment, a personalized body/mind/spirit health-enhancing prescription is formulated. This will include recommendations for diet, stress management, exercise, emotional healing, nutritional and herbal supplements, and sensory modulation.
Our initial session includes an in-depth Doshic evaluation: What is your natural state of being and how are you balanced/imbalanced currently. We will explore your concerns. Together we will set goals. Ayurveda emphasizes self-care techniques that can bring you back into balance. The ayurvedic practitioner will suggest you doshic specific self-care, nutrition, diet and lifestyle recommendations. Some herbs may be suggested as well. You will receive a detailed write-up of our session. No knowledge of Ayurveda is necessary.
